Developed in the USA with over 6 months of R&D, we are proud to introduce the all new Fantom FR-1 Series professional racing motors.

The heart of the FR-1 Series motors are the stators and rotors.  Our stators are made from premium Kawasaki® steel from Japan.  Countless hours of track testing went into the development of our stators, which include three different designs, to cover the different wind motors and their intended uses.  Our three stator designs are not just different stack heights, but are also three completely different designs!  Our TYPE T stator design is used for our 10.5 spec motors and all of our modified motors (3.5 through 9.5 turn).  Our 21.5 spec motors use the TYPE M design and our 25.5 turn spec motors use our TYPE RS stator design.  Our 13.5 and 17.5 turn spec motors are available in the TYPE T, TYPE M or TYPE RS configurations.

Our rotors are precision balanced and manufactured using a premium grade neodymium formula, for extreme horsepower and superior fade resistance!  All are laser engraved with the Fantom logo and specs!

THIS WORKS EDITION PLUS MOTOR INCLUDES ALL OF THE OPTIONS LISTED BELOW.  IT ALSO INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL STOCK BEARINGS AND 2 EXTRA TEFLON SHIMS AS SPARE PARTS.

WORKS EDITION SERVICE & UPGRADE DETAILS:

Rotor Re-Shim w/ TEFLON® Shims - We disassemble the motor and adjust the rotor shims so that the rotor "floats" centered properly within the magnetic field.  We use TEFLON® shims for the outermost shims, to minimize any side-load binding between the rotor and bearings.  If required, the rotor shaft is also polished to ensure that it fits the inner race of the bearing correctly.  We also make sure that it has the correct end play, so that it is not bound up or too loose.

ABEC 7 Hybrid Ceramic Bearings - These are ABEC 7 rated, maximum-performance hybrid ceramic replacement bearings.  They feature no-contact seals, for less drag and are the highest precision, most free spinning bearing available for r/c motors.  These bearings are lighter and capable of achieving higher RPM's compared to standard chrome steel bearings.  The high-tolerance ceramic balls are super-hard and roll with extremely high accuracy and low resistance.  More info here  We also make sure the bearings seats are sized correctly before installing the bearings.  This ensures that the bearings are not squeezed or distorted when installed, which could cause extra drag or nonconcentrical bearing movement.  If required, the rotor shaft is also polished to ensure that it fits the inner race of the bearings correctly.

Rotor Options -  Choose the 12.5mm high-torque Competition Select rotor at no extra cost, or one of the other four "optional" or "upgraded" rotors listed below.  There is an upcharge for the optional and upgraded rotors.  If you choose the "optional" 12.3mm or 12.4mm Pro Select rotor, you will also receive the "standard upgraded" 12.5mm high-torque (Pro Select) rotor.  All Team Edition rotors are checked for correct bearing fit.  If required, the rotor shaft is polished to ensure that it fits the inner race of the bearing correctly.  All Team Edition rotors are certified to meet our strict specifications, even if you don't choose the "Rotor Strength Test Option" described below.

Pro Aluminum Timing Clamp Option -

  • Eliminates the power robbing magnetic drag on the rotor that the stock steel clamp causes and improves RPM, efficiency and horsepower!
  • Increases RPM by 200+ RPM compared to the stock steel clamp!
  • Increases of 3+ watts of power, 3+ Nmm of torque and 500+ RPM are obtainable when when combined with the 46mm Pro Aluminum Stator Screws and 6mm Pro Aluminum Timing Screws!
  • Reduces weight by 1.41 grams compared to stock steel clamp!

Pro Aluminum 46mm Stator Screws Option -

  • Eliminates the power robbing magnetic drag on the rotor that the stock steel screws cause and improves RPM, efficiency and horsepower!
  • Increases RPM by 200+ RPM compared to the stock steel screws!
  • Increases of 3+ watts of power, 3+ Nmm of torque and 500+ RPM are obtainable when combined with the Pro Aluminum Timing Clamp and 6mm Pro Aluminum Timing Screws!

Pro Aluminum 6mm Timing Clamp Screws Option -

  • Increases RPM by 100+ RPM compared to the stock steel screws!
  • Increases of 3+ watts of power, 3+ Nmm of torque and 500+ RPM are obtainable when combined with the Pro Aluminum Timing Clamp and 46mm Pro Aluminum Stator Screws!
  • Reduces weight by .26 grams compared to the stock steel screws!
  • These are machined from the good stuff - high-strength 7075 alloy!
  • ROAR Approved for use in all FR-1 motors!

Dyno Test - We evaluate your motor to make sure it is performing properly.  We test your motor on our Fantom dyno, through a Tekin RS Pro ESC.  The ESC is set at the default settings from Tekin (no added programming).  This test evaluates RPM, Power and Torque.  A printout is supplied with your motor.  We also test the sensor circuit board to verify that it is working correctly.

Rotor Strength Test Option - We evaluate your rotor to make sure it meets proper specs.  If we find that the rotor does not meet our strict standards, we will replace it.  We disassemble the motor and remove the rotor.  The rotor's magnetic field strength is tested on our Fantom rotor tester and the results are provided.  All Works Edition rotors are certified to meet our strict standards.

Coil Resistance Test Option - We evaluate the ohms resistance of your stator to make sure it meets proper specs and to detect shorts.  If we find that the stator does not meet our strict standards, we will replace it.  We disassemble the motor and test each coil individually.  The stator results are tested on our Facts Machine 2 and the results are provided.

Set Motor Timing Option - We set your timing to either our recommended setting based on the race application that you select, or we can set it to your own custom setting.  To set your timing, we use the highly accurate Motolyser brushless motor tester.  IMPORTANT: If you choose to have us set your timing to our recommended setting, we set the timing based on blinky mode ESC operation.

IMPORTANT: We use our Fantom Facts Machine-3 to test our rotors and the Instek GOM-801H to test our stators.  It is important to know that there is no standard in the RC industry for testing brushless rotors and stators.  There are numerous testers on the market, including the Trinity, MMS and others, that all provide different information.  The information can vary greatly.  For example, one company's meter may read 1550 for a rotor, where our meter may read it as 1500.  The same goes for stator readings.  For example, a 19.5ohm reading on another brand meter, may be the same as a 20.2ohm reading on our tester.  The Fantom Facts Machine-3 rotor tester is the most accurate rotor tester in RC and is calibrated to the highest standards, so you can feel confident that we are providing you with the most accurate testing in RC.
